DAY 49!! Baton Rouge!

Posted on: February 25th, 2012 by joosy No Comments

Got up early and had one breakfast morning with Rachel consisting of waffles and Biscoff spread, amazing. Thanks Rachel for your always awesomeness when coming into New Orleans! Headed over and got to interview 2 of my 4 lil’ Wender boys (My best friend Matt and his lovely wife Melissa live here in Lakeview with their 4 boys, Jackson, Aeric, Andrew, and Joe (and dogs and soon to be chickens!)). I got to interview Jackson and Aeric about America and what they know from school and what kids are learning about pride these days. I then finally left New Orleans and hit up Baton Rouge. My friend Jamie Massongale put me in touch with Stephen who is a PI in town and we went to lunch to chat up things Baton Rouge. Stephen took me in his truck through campus and we got to go see the tiger (quite sad) in his cage just being taunted by kids, I can’t imagine what it looks like on game day. Southern football is something else and I know this only from bouncing from Alabama to their rivals campus. So silly and so much money brought in, and real tigers. One thing I will say is the LSU campus is so beautiful, cyprus trees everywhere! And I was very impressed with their lack of street cars access on campus, time to walk America! I then drove the stretch over to downtown and saw the interesting Mississippi river scene with old capitol and modern art museum. Sadly it was right after Mardi Gras and Friday and slightly cold so not much was going on. Took some pics all over for about 4 hours and drove from campus over to downtown which was quite a stretch. Ended back over near campus around sunset and hung out with a critical mass biking crew for a bit. Spent the night in the van and catching up on blogs, photos, and backups. Off to Lafayette in the morning!
