DAY 8! Rimming the island, south side!

Posted on: January 15th, 2012 by joosy 3 Comments

Woke up at 8 which is the latest I have slept yet on the adventure. Needed that. Went to eat breakfast (an amazing breakfast for 5 dollars, http://www.northshorecafe.net/) and talked to Rick who sold organic veggies and cut me open a coconut. He was actually born in the south and migrated to the island. Ate with Drew and Danny and they told me where to go on the southern rim tour today. We first went to a beautiful waterfall hike that no one apparently knew about. Amazing, watch the video. I then took the rest of the rim solo and stopped at a bamboo forest that ended in waterfalls, saw Eucalyptus color, went to a black peppled beach where a cute couple cliff jumped. As the rim went around it turned from tropical to desert as I finished the 8 hour drive into the sunset. hmmmm! Went to meet up with Drew and Kathie and called it an early night after dinner which was around midnight. Getting up at 3 am in the morning to head up the highest peak to watch the sunrise above the clouds. whoop!

  1. Love the photo with you and sugar cane. Reminds me of my childhood. P.S.: I love all the photos!

  2. Which sauce did you have on your pancakes, Homemade Macadamia-Vanilla or Coconut Vanilla Sauce? Love the photo of the church. It says “missionaries were here” to me. And the watch-out-for-jelly-fish warning is fantastic!
